Porsche launched its cheapest Taycan yet — though at $103,800, that still doesn't make it cheap for most people.
The Taycan 4S is a slightly less powerful car than the high-end Taycan Turbo and Turbo S, which still means it has plenty of power and range. The cheaper variant, with the Performance Battery has a total capacity of 79.2kWh and delivers up to 522 hp, while the Performance Battery Plus has a 93.4kWh capacity and delivers up to 563 hp. Both variants accelerate from 0–60mph in 3.8 seconds, and have a top speed of 155mph.

Porsche didn't share U.S. EPA range estimates, saying those will be available before point of sale.
The price for the Taycan 4S with the Performance Battery is $103,800; the version with the Performance Battery Plus is $110,380. Both cars can be ordered now, and should arrive to U.S. dealerships in the spring of 2020.
The most important differences between the Taycan 4S and the Turbo models, which cost $150,900 and $185,000, respectively, are in the power and speed. The Turbo goes from 0-60 in 3 seconds, and the Turbo S can do it in 2.6 seconds.
With the new Taycan 4S, Porsche closed a big price gap towards its chief rival, the Tesla Model S, which starts at $79,990 ($99,990 for the Performance model). It's still a fair bit more expensive, but at least the two are now in the same ballpark.
